This paper, based on Visual Grammar, attempts to explore the realization of representational meaning, interactive meaning and compositional meaning in the posters of Harry Potter movie series, and demonstrates the connection and differences of the posters in terms of realization of the three strands of meaning. Through the analysis, some conclusions can be drawn as follows. First of all, representational meaning reflects the content of each individual poster, and displays certain plot of corresponding movie; interactive meaning construction appeals to the viewers and arouses their interests in movies;compositional meaning construction emphasizes prominent information of the posters. Secondly, representational meaning construction and compositional meaning construction demonstrate the unity of the eight posters; interactive meaning construction reveals the particularity of the posters of the first and the last two episodes, and the connection between other posters.

Since the punishment of J.K. Rowling''s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer''s Stone in 1997, it has become so popular around the world. Scholars home and abroad have dome researches from different angles. This paper tries to measure whether this book is easier to read than literatures of average level using two indicators: word length and word density. This paper tends to make a contrast between two corpus. One is made of the text of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer''s Stone and the other is a sub-corpus of CLOB (K-P). Crown_CLOB is a general corpus established by Professor XU Jiajin and LIANG Maocheng from Bei-jing Foreign Studies University. In conclusion, from the aspect of lexical feature Harry Potter and the Sorcerer"s Stone is easier to read and has colloquial feature.

In the viewpoint of Ethical Literary Criticism,man is an existence of Sphinx factors,a combination of hu-man factor and animal factor. Through a detailed analysis of the ethical choices made by the protagonist Harry and the antagonist Voldemort in Harry Potter and their respective motives with the method of Ethical Literary Criticism, we come to the conclusion that Harry and Voldemort are constructed as a pair of mirror images with homologous structure ,one of which is the embodiment of“good”,the other incarnation of“evil”. They are in a kind of parasitic relation,namely,Harry keeps part of Voldemort’s soul in his body,and Voldemort has Harry’s blood run in his vessel. They are opposite to each other,but meanwhile,they are interdependent on each other for living,so they are just like the two sides of the same coin. The pair of mirrored characters with mutual antagonism and mutual depend-ence,like two sides of a coin,can be symbolically seen as a Sphinx factor:Voldemort
