The study showed that there was a difference in the timber outturn of Qiancengban forest center in Saihanba for Larix principis-ruppre-chtiiin Mayr plantation between thinned and un-thinned stands,and analysed the thinning effects on timber outturn. The results show that the thinning of Larix principis-rupprechtiiin Mayr plantation can increase timber size and timber outturn.

In order to investigate the effects on the seed quality of Larix principis-rupprechtii in different collecting seed time,the seed weight,morphology,seed yield and sowing quality of Larix principis-ruppre-chtii were preliminary determined by the test methods. Meanwhile,the scientific basis was provided on the seed collecting time of Larix principis-rupprechtii.The results showed that:along with the change of collect-ing time in a certain time frame,the changing extension of cones weight increased slowly then began to de-cline,and the yield and quality of seeds increased slowly and then decreased. The suitable seed collecting time should be after late August to early September.

Seedling regeneration properties of inef ficient Larix principis-rupprechtii forest in Mulan Weichang were researched in order to clarify gap size on update rules of Larix principis-rupprechtii forest .The results showed renewed seedlings within gaps consist of Larix principis-rupprechtii ,Populus davidiana and Pinus tabulaeformis .Larix principis-rupprechtii and Populus davidiana density in the gap area range from 120 to 140 m2 is maximum ,reaching 2 411 individuals per hectare .But Pinus tabulae f ormis density in the gap area ranging from 20 to 40 m2 is maximum ,with 196 individuals per hectare .With the in-crease of gap size ,the seedling number of Larix principis-rupprechtii ,and Populus davidi-ana of large diameter and height class showed an increasing trend ,reaching the maximum value in the gap area up to 160 to 180 m2 while Pinus tabulaeformis reached the maximum value at 40 to 60 m2 ,with the seedling density of 69 individuals per hectare when diameter at >2 cm .

In order to understand the biomass and its allocation of Larix principis-rupprechtii planta-tions ,the biomass of the four age Larix principis-rupprechtii plantations was studied based on the re-gression analysis ( for trees) and clear cutting ( for shrubs ,herbs and litter ) .Results showed that the biomass of Larix principis-rupprechtii plantations increased with the increase of plantation age ,and the biomass of 9 ,18 ,33 and 43 year old plantations were 43 .67 ,67 .7 ,110 .38 and 281 .66 t/hm2 ,re-spectively with the most biomass of the plantations concentrated on the tree layer .The biomass of the tree layer allocated in the organs was 25 .85% ~62 .36% ,7 .96% ~13 .38% ,9 .86% ~11 .30% and 1 .40% ~5 .54% of the total biomass in stems ,roots ,branches and leaves ,respectively .Additionally , the biomass of stems increased with the increase of plantation age ,while the biomass of branches and leaves decreased with the increase of plantation age ;The biomass of understory vegetation

This paper is based on the calculation of data of sample trees by means of plot investigation and stem analysis the growing curves of tree height, diameter of breast height (DBH) and volume of timber were drawn to determine the characteristics of the stand growth of 31 a Larix principis-rupprechtii plantation in LiuPan Mountains.The results show that:The growth of tree height, DBH and volume of Larix principis-rupprechtii increased significantly with the age of plantation. The growing curves fluctuated in the processes of increase in tree height, DBH. Growth of DBH was quickly at age of 6-16a, and reached its peak of annual growth at age of 7a. In similar, growth of tree height was quickly at age of 6-14a, and reached its peak of annual growth at age of 12a. However, growth of volume of timber was quickly at age of 12-29a, then kept annual growth with 0.007~0.031 m3, and reached its peak of annual growth at age of 29a. The purposeof this study is to provide references for transformation of low efifciency stands by research the influences on soil carbon content and carbon density aboutLarix principis-rupprechtii low efifciency stands which were treated with the selective cutting and artiifcial regeneration. In a natural secondary forest ofLarix principis-rupprechtii (~50 years old), 3 nitrogen addition levels (0 g·m-2·a-1, 8 g·m-2·a-1, 15 g·m-2·a-1) were setup and applied in one growing season to simulate the short term nitrogen deposition. Our objectives were to determine the effects of increased nitrogen deposition on soil nutrient dynamics in such stand and the needle responses of Larix principis-rupprechtii and their relationships by continuous monitoring of soil physicochemical properties and measuring leaf traits of current year needles. The results showed: the short-term nitrogen addition significantly increased NH4+-N, NO3–-N, and Total Organic Carbon (TOC) contents in the 0~20 cm horizon and more pronounced in the 0~10 cm horizon, but not the soil pH and soil total nitrogen content (TN), while significant monthly variations were present.
