Romance of The Western Bower, written by Wang Shifu, is the most excellent drama among Yuan dramas, and has been adapted into various art forms such as Yueju Opera, Beijing Opera, movies, teleplays, etc. Although there have been a lot of stud-ies on the translation of the literary text of Romance of The Western Bower among national and international translators, the studies on the translation of other art forms of Romance of The Western Bower are relatively insufficient. Using the translation of Xu Yuan-chong for reference, based on the melody of Yueju Opera Romance of The Western Bower, this thesis is to discuss the translatability of libretto of Romance of The Western Bower under the condition that the melody of libretto won’t change, and summarize the strategies used in translation.
