The optimal internal sizing conditions for cup paper with cationic and anionic dispersed rosin size were studied from the sizing sequence, pH, the dosage of rosin size, the dosage of aluminum sulfate, and drying temperature. The experimental results show that the optimized sizing conditions for cationic rosin size are as follow: reverse sizing, pH 5.0~5.5, rosin size dosage 2.5%, aluminum sulfate charge 4% at the drying temperature of 90℃; the optimized sizing conditions of anionic rosin size are as follow: reverse sizing, pH4.5~5.0, rosin size dosage 3%, aluminum sulfate charge 6% at the drying temperature of 90℃.

In order to prepare a kind of environment-friendly surface sizing agent, the guar gum was modified by alkenyl succinic anhydride (ASA), and the surface sizing effect of the modified guar gum was studied. ~ae effect on surface sizing of the reactant ratio, reaction temperature and reaction time were discussed, and the structure, performance and application effect were characterized by the infrared spectrum (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic contact angle (DCA) and so on. ]-he results showed that when the ratio of the guar gum and ASA was 7:1, reaction temperature was 60~C, reaction time was 10 hours, the hydrophobic long chain was introduced onto the guar gum successfiaUy. As the dosage of modified guar gum was 2.5%, the sizing degree was up to 54 seconds, and the dynamic contact angle was more than 118°.

According to the characteristics of the sizing process of medium density fiberboard ( MDF) , we proposed a gluing con-trol strategy with neural network predictive control principle.By regarding MDF glue system as a control, we used BP neu-ral network to identify model and multi-step recursive to obtain the prediction model .We made some simulations and real-time control experiments for MDF gluing system and validates the effect compared with the PID control.The glue system brings MDF system a good tracking performance and anti-jamming capability, and realizes the fast track of glue consump-tion in dynamic changes of fiber amount with obvious advantages compared with the PID control .

Surface sizing is a simple and cheap way to produce inkjet paper. Cationic starch (CS) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were used as base sizing material respectively with addition of dye fixing agents and cationic poly-styrene-acrylate emulsion (SAE). The ink color density and water resistance were tested. Ink dot area and dot roundness were analyzed. All data showed that dye fixing agent and SAE are helpful to improve color density and water resistance, and SAE can be used as a dye fixing agent. PVA exhibits the same results as CS. Less SAE added have 50% dye fixing agent function. Adding 20% dye fixing agent into CS or PVA sizing solution with small amount of SAE, sized paper color density and water resistance can reach that of inkjet photo paper. But the dot area and dot roundness are different. With or without SAE, with or without dye fixing agent, all PVA sized paper can reach inkjet photo paper in dot area and dot roundness. CS can''t.

Several surface sizing agents of rosin, styrene-acrylic ester, and AKD with addition of wet strengthening agent were tested, and the sample with surface sizing was treated in cold storage. The experimental results show that small amount of PAE addition can lower the water absorption, expressing the better water resistance at low temperature storage condition, while the strength is not improved with the addition of PAE. Rosin base surface sizing agent and styrene-acrylic base surface sizing agent performed better synergy effect with wet strengthening agent compared to AKD base, no matter in strength or water resistance properties.

This study examined the surface sizing of OCC sheets with wheat straw CMP pulping waste liquor. The wheat straw CMP pulping spent liquor at solids contents up to 15% and oxidized starch and surface sizing agent were mixed in different proportions with a series of consistency, and the mixture was used in the surface sizing of OCC sheets. The effects of dosages of condensed wheat straw CMP pulping spent liquor and oxidized starch and surface sizing agent on the properties of OCC sheets were evaluated respectively, the results could be concluded as follows: compared with the OCC sheets without surface sizing, the properties were improved through applying surface sizing of OCC sheets with wheat straw CMP pulping spent liquor. It was suggested that a new way to realize the integrated utilization of pulping spent liquor could be achieved.

During the AKD sizing for bamboo pulp, wet-end additives were added, which include PAC, modified starch and CPAM. The effects of sizing, zeta potential and paper properties were researched. The improvements of wet-end additives on AKD sizing and the optimization quantity were determined. The investigations showed that the PAC, cationic starch, amphoteric starch and CPAM could improve the sizing effect.
