ABSTRACT:The energy consumption of the air separation unit (ASU) in the integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) plant dominates the overall auxiliary power usage. Reducing the energy consumption of the ASU will greatly reduce the power consumption rate of the IGCC plant thus dramatically increasing the IGCC efficiency. Using a commercialized IGCC demonstration power plant as an example, a comprehensively comparative analysis was conducted for an isolated air separation unit. The results show that using a small steam turbine as the driving force for the air compressor unit of ASU has clear advantage over electric motor, since it is not only convenient for start-up but also more efficient in power generation. It may increase the power output efficiency by 0.47%. When operated at a lower load, the efficiency increase will be even higher. Load optimal distribution is the definitive factor for Joint optimization dispatching of cascade hydropower stations. Accordingly, it is significant to explore a optimization method for load distribution. A method optimizing load allocation is that all units of cascade hydropower stations was considered as one of a power station under the consideration of load optimal distribution. Meantime, different characteristics of each power station units have been reflected under the constraint condition. On this basis, mathematical model is established and MATLAB combined with the genetic algorithm toolbox was adopted to solve this problem. At last, an example was used to confirm the effectiveness and reliability of this method. The results concluded that the water consumption of cascade hydropower station has a sharp reduction in this way.

There are some deficiencies in the conventional methods of making reservoir operation chart. According to the requirements of joint dispatching of cascade hydropower station, joint dispatching of cascade hydropower station was proposed by means of improved and optimized reservoir operation chart, which was based on optimized deterministic dispatching model, combined with reservoir operation function. Taking the joint dispatching of cascade hydropower station in Zagunao River basin as an example, the reservoir operation chart of Shiziping hydropower station in Zagunao cascade hydropower station was made. Additionally, the reservoir operation strategies of Xuecheng and Gucheng hydropower station were developed, and the decision scheme of the joint dispatching of cascade hydropower station in Zagunao River Basin was formed.
