Under the background of cultural fusion of the West and China, it is significant to explore the translation of Chinese literary titles. In the process of translating the literary titles in The Importance of Understanding, Lin Yutang adopted flexible methods such as literal translation, free translation, adaptation, double-barreled translation, addition and omission. From the perspective of cultural transmission, the employment of free translation, adaptation and omission may cause the loss of specific cultural information, while the application of literal translation, double-barreled translation and addition can preserve the most of the original culture. The Importance of Understanding provides a good example of translating Chinese literary titles.

Translation and culture are closely related with each other. This paper deals with the Chinese-English translation in Yungang Grottoes from the perspective of culture, and meanwhile carries out a detailed analysis on the merits and demerits of English introductions of the caves. Translation strategies like generalization, deletion and distortion are discussed in translating and suggestions are offered to improve the C-E translation. In doing so, this paper shows us how to mind-shift between cultures in translating cultural relics so as to promote the understanding of overseas visitors, and meanwhile provides guidelines for translating Chinese cultural relics in practice.

Faithfulness, as the standard of evaluating translated version, is the goal that many translators work for. For the purpose of making the westerners change their attitude toward China, Ku Hung-ming adopted the domesticating strategy to translate the Discourses and Sayings of Confucius, which is best exemplified in the methods of addition, adaptation and adding notes. What''s more, he also skillfully integrated many western things and sayings in the English version so as to exactly illustrate Confucian clas-sics. Through analyzing Ku''s English version from the perspective of Skopos Theory, this paper concludes that his translation is faithful to the original text.

Then, based on the Sino-Western cultural differences and the popular translation standards, this paper propos-es five strategies of idiom translation, including literal translation, adaptation, addition, omission and borrowing as well as lists a lot of examples to analyze and illustrate.
