In order to overcome the drawbacks of CA61 40 and abnormal NC reform,this paper explored the puzzle of related technology in NC reform of CA61 40.And it analyzed the principle of NC reform,researched on the technology and implementation plan of NC reform,including the reform of main drive system,feeding-drive system and machine guide,the selection and instal a-tion of automatic circular cutter holder,and introduced the instal ation and interface definition of NC system.It took the inspection of industrial parts as an example,and the experiment demon-strated that it had been greatly improved in stability and accuracy of the lathe.The application of related practice shows that the proposed solution is feasible and effective,and propitious to nu-merical control reform of universal lathe.

In order to provide reference for cutting parameter optimization in practical industrial produc‐tion ,a research was made in which the orthogonal dry turning tests of 40Cr steel were carried out on the CA6140A lathe using Taguchi method .The variations of main cutting forces and surface roughness were obtained with different cutting parameters .The statistical methods of signal to noise ratio (SNR) and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to investigate the effects of cutting speed ,feed rate and depth of cut on F and Ra .Optimal cutting parameters for F and Ra were obtained according to the analysis results and were verified through experiments .The results of this study showed that the contribution de‐grees of cutting speed ,feed rate and depth of cut were 3.656% ,20.006% and 72.396% to cutting force , respectively ,and 18.828% ,60.287% and 0.718% to surface roughness ,respectively .

The conventional lathe carriage often appears the offset phenomenon in use,and there is excessive wear of pin hole sleeve of the smal skateboard,which affects the machining accura-cy and reduces the efficiency.CA61 40 lathe,for example,the pin hole sleeve is made of 45 steel,whose abrasion resistance is not enough by conventional heat treatment processing.Thus it is necessary to explore the modern heat treatment process to enhance the abrasion resistance of 45 steel,and resolve the actual production fault of lathe carriage.
