This paper focuses on the pivotal technic and difficulty of B-Rep information’s extraction in CATIA which is commonly used in auto trade, describing how to apply CAA secondary development technology in depth, extract B-Rep information and use it to feature recognition technic of three-dimensional machining process planning system, providing a basis for machining process planning.

Objective The System for automobile panel was developed based on the parametric die template, it was used to do parametric design through appropriate human-computer interactive operations. Methods The system was developed by CATIA platform with CAA technology, which combined the ideas of parameterization and template to instruct the whole process of drawing die design. Results The system provides the functions of 3D model replacing, batch editing parameters, standard parts re-position and die structure checking toachieve the whole process operated in a standard way. Conclusion This die design system achieve the goal that on the basis of an existing template model, effectively reducing the designer''s repetitive work and improving the speed of mold designing.

During the period of vehicle concept design, the evaluation of master section performance mostly depends on reference vehicle data and the experience of structure design engineers. In this paper, it studies the influence of master section parameters on the vehicle body performance and sets up parameterized model of master section. A Master Section Mea-sure Tool(MSMT)is developed based on CATIA/CAA, which improves design efficiency by measuring the master sec-tion parameters according to CAD surface data. As an example, six master sections of A pillar are respectively measured by MSMT and Altair/Hypermesh. The measure results of master section measure tool are the same as the Altair/Hypermesh’s, which approve the practicability and the veracity of this master section measure tools.

To solve the complicated-interaction and low-efifciency problem in the aircraft assembly ifxture design process, an approach of the frame associated design based on assembly 3D bounding box is presented. Firstly, the classiifcation of frame structure is made according to its characteristics and the association with assembly size. Secondly, a research on associated frame design is made, and its principle and algorithm are presented. Finally, the algorithm is implemented in CATIA with the VC++envi-ronment and CAA. An example is given to validate the ap-proach. The approach can be applied to modify assembly ifxture automatically and adaptively with assembly model. Therefore the efifciency and quality of the assembly ifxture design can be improved.
